Beauty products: Controversial, or Amazing?

Cosmetics, or beauty products, have been used ever since Ancient times. Actually, the first physical evidence of cosmetics was found in the hollowed out tombs of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, containing Kohl, which was used as a protective of the eye of Kohl, Castor Oil which was used as a balm to protect skin and lips. Beeswax, Olive Oil, and rosewater, all made up skin creams. Us females have been looking for the perfect beauty products for millenniums it seems.

So, I’m here to offer some help, with my experience of products, and hopefully I can help you all out as well!

We will start out with Dove 24-Hour Protective Deodorant, which, I’ve used for years now. For my body, it will take me through the entire day. I give this a two thumbs up, every scent they have is amazing to me, even though I’m partial to the sweet pea. It was around $4 for me, but prices may vary wherever you live. It’s a good antiperspirant, even for me, who is a heavy sweater.

And next, for one of the most controversial topics in my household, mascara. And the mascara I will be critiquing will be Maybelline’s New York Great Lash Washable Mascara.

Now, for me, I didn’t like it. For me, it looked as if I had on fake lashes, which I do wear sometimes, but there are days that I don’t want the faux look. I have a collection of the mascara tubes I’ve found to like. I’m not joking, I get so attached to my mascara that I just keep their empty tubes. It’s sad, isn’t it? Well, back to the topic. At $5, I would say it’s a good deal, but you’re definitely getting what you pay for. Maybelline is one of my favorite brands, but this just doesn’t cut it for me.

While we’re on the topic of makeup, lets talk about Bare Escenntuals i.d bareMinerals Foundation SPF 15.

Now, this one is sort of pricey. But, to me, it is worth it. It’s the holy mecca of foundations. It’s a powder, but on totalbeauty, it is rated 7.5 stars. And that’s saying something. Trust me, if you like powders, this is so worth the money you have to dish out. To me, I recommend this product. It is a must-try. It’s $25, but trust me, you’ll be thanking me later!

Also, for such a cheap brand, Wet N Wild has an amazing line of eyeshadows. Their eyeshadows are cheap, maybe around $2-$7 dollars, depending on what you buy, you will definitely get a wonderful outcome. I have used Wet N Wild for years now, and I’ve never regretted my purchase. Their colors, especially the blacks, are super pigmented, and easily spread. Their foundation and bronzers are also very good. They have very impressive, cheap, pigmented lipsticks that aren’t very glossy.

Also, another great company is ELF Cosmetics, which stands for Eyes Lips Face. They have a Zit Zapping concealer ($6) that I always use and it gives me a great porcelain look. The only problem I have with it, though, is because I’m pretty pale. The medium shade for me was too dark, but what it does, is it dries the acne out and it just flakes off. It’s really, really good.

along with their High Definition Under-eye Setting powder ($8),I sometimes have bags, (I have a stressful life, even at 20!) and sometimes I don’t get enough sleep at night and I had tried it ALL. Even the cold spoon trick. Nothing worked for me. Nothing at all. Until I came across this. I looked like I was a panda without any makeup a few times. This sets on the skin perfectly and doesn’t crease like normal concealers.

What are some of the beauty products you would recommend to me to review? I’m open to anything!
